KENINGAU: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has called for the cooperation and full support of all relevant authorities to expedite the process of securing a permanent site for development of a 21st General Operations Force (PGA) Battalion in Keningau.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said efforts to secure the permanent land are currently being processed, adding that the move is crucial to facilitate the construction of complete facilities and logistical infrastructure for the battalion.
He said the provision of a permanent site and comprehensive facilities would enable the 21st PGA Battalion to operate at an optimum level.
“Therefore, strong support from various parties is greatly needed to ensure the land acquisition process can be expedited, in the interest of strengthening security in the area,” Jauteh said.
He said this when met by reporters at the handover of duties ceremony for the Keningau district police chief, which was held in conjunction with the handover and opening ceremony of the Anchayau Open Hall in Keningau recently.
Jauteh said the 21st PGA Battalion was among the new battalions established under the PGA structure to strengthen the country’s security defences.
Its establishment was in line with the formation of the 22nd PGA Battalion in Kunak, Sabah, and the 23rd PGA Battalion in Sri Aman, Sarawak.
