Kota Kinabalu: The relevant authority is urged to build a high-quality Jalan Cenderakasih, here, which is heavily used daily.
Warisan Sepanggar Chinese Committee member Vincent Liew Majadil said he received many complaints from residents who used the road, from the Taman Seri Borneo roundabout to Metro Town, daily.
He said the road is an important access for residents of Kg Cenderakasih, Taman Iramanis, Taman Bunga Raja, Taman Seri Borneo and many more.
“Users of Jalan Cenderakasih have suffered enough. The road has always been in a rundown condition for decades.
“The people wonder why it is so hard for the authority to build a high-quality road once and for all. It is full of large and deep potholes, the road surface is uneven and one could never drive straight.
“One Wong said his car hit a pothole which damaged his tyre and rim, and had to fork out RM1,700 to tow the car, replace the tyre and rim, and repair the suspension system,” said Vincent.
“Why is the authority victimising the people, especially the residents of Kg Cenderakasih?
“Do you know that it is the only road in and out of Kg Cenderakasih, but this road is now used by thousands daily because it links to other residential, commercial and industrial areas.
“For Kg Cenderakasih folks, driving out daily is risking their safety and affecting them financially. Besides, the road condition also causes the house price there unable to appreciate like the houses in nearby residential areas.
“Sorry to say but Kg Cenderakasih is now like the slum in this highly valuable locality because the authority is denying their rights.
“The people of Kg Cenderakasih should not be left out,” said Vincent.
