- Former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has called for President Donald Trump’s removal from office after he threatened to wipe out Iranian civilization Tuesday.
- Trump has threatened to “decimate” Iran’s civilian infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened by his 8 pm ET deadline. “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “I don’t want that to happen but it probably will.”
- Greene, a former Trump ally who retired from Congress this year, wrote: “25TH AMENDMENT!!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness.”
- Former Trump supporter and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones also called for Trump’s removal, saying “How do we 25th Amendment his a**?” and at least three Democratic lawmakers did the same over the weekend after Trump posted a profanity-laced Truth Social rant about the war.
- The 25th Amendment establishes procedures for replacing a US president or vice president in cases of death, removal, resignation, or incapacitation.
