Cambodia’s tourism revenue grew 6.6% to $3.87 billion in 2025 despite a drop in international arrivals, with the sector supporting 420,000 direct jobs.

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia’s tourism sector generated a gross revenue of US$3.87 billion in 2025, marking a 6.6% increase from the US$3.63 billion earned a year earlier.

This revenue growth occurred despite a nearly 17% decline in international tourist arrivals, which fell to 5.57 million last year from 6.7 million in 2024.

The industry also created 420,000 direct jobs, reinforcing its status as one of the four key pillars supporting the national economy alongside garment exports, agriculture, and construction.

Tourism Minister Huot Hak recently emphasised that Cambodia remains a safe and warm destination for visitors.

“Strict measures have been continuously implemented to prevent and suppress all forms of crime, particularly online scam activities, in order to ensure safety and strengthen confidence among tourists,” he said.

The country’s appeal is bolstered by five UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the famed Angkor Archaeological Park and the Temple of Preah Vihear.

Cambodia also boasts a pristine coastline stretching approximately 450 kilometres across the southwestern provinces of Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and Koh Kong.
