Vijay started a new party and in just two years, judging by the exit poll conducted by NDTV, it looks like there is a good chance that he and his new party TVK, is going to defeat the two juggernauts of Tamil Nadu politics and become the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
We will only know the official result of the election in the first week of May, but if it comes to pass, this will be an unprecedented event in Tamil Nadu politics. Even the legendary MGR, another Tamil actor cum Anwar's hero, took 5 years to achieve the same feat.
Even if NDTV's exit poll results proves to be inaccurate, one thing is for certain: the impact that Vijay's political entry has made will be felt in Tamil Nadu politics for years.
He has, in effect, singlehandedly created a third force in Tamil Nadu politics.
Our own general election, GE16, is going to be held, according to Bloomberg, this October.
Rafizi has announced that he will most likely start a new party in June ( actually , he said he will announce whether he will start a new party in June, but I am going to jump the gun and say that I believe that he WILL start a new party in June).
From June, October is just four months away .
If even Vijay needed 2 plus years , to make an impact in Tamil Nadu politics, can Rafizi do it in just 4 months ?
But saying that, Rafizi actually doesn't have to match Vijay's result to make an powerful impact in Malaysia's politics .
In the Tamil Nadu election , the contest was a direct match between Vijay and TVK, against the incumbent Chief Minister M.K Stalin and his grand old party of Tamil politics, DMK.
When Rafizi enters the fray however, it is not going to be a direct contest. In the Malaysian arena, it is going to multi-front contest. involving PH, BN and PN, not to mention east Malaysian parties like GPS and GRS, playing a big role.
In this sort of Mexican standoff, chaos theory is much more significant - just a small difference can make a major impact in the final result.
Rafizi already has the backing of 10 PKR MP's. If the 10 MP's just retain their seats in the next election, except that they do so for Rafizi's new party instead of PKR, it might be enough for Rafizi's new party to be a game changer.
For all you know, if his new party just wins a few more seats - say 5 or 10 more - Rafizi might even be in the contention to become the next Prime Minister, if the result of GE16 is so fractured, that it will require a 3 or 4 party alliance to have enough numbers to rule the country.
Anyway, I certainly do hope, that Rafizi will make an impact in the next election, for the same reason that the Tamil Nadu youths have backed Vijay so enthusiastically in his maiden attempt .
I, like the Tamil Nadu youths, am also very much looking forward for a third force to break the dominance of the existing players in our politics.
More than that, I am also very much looking forward for the entry of the next generation of politicians, to rejuvenate and refresh the age profile of our leadership, which is too burdened by old and compromised politicians.
Vijay is 51.
Rafizi is 48.
This is the age group that I think is best for not only Tamil Nadu and Malaysia, but for the entire world.
The almost 80 years old politicians around the world, which include such personalities as Anwar and Trump, are ruining the world.
If we don't push them out, they are going to ruin us all.
Of all the new generation of politicians - which includes Rafizi, Khairy, Dr Sam and Nurul Izzah - my bet is on Rafizi to pave the way for a reset in our country.
Although Hamzah is the one that has claimed the term reset for his politics, I am more than sure that Hamzah is not going to reset anything in our country.
The one that can truly own, not just claim, the term "reset", in our country , is Rafizi.
I hope that Rafizi will indeed be a reset Thalapathy for Malaysian politics, as how Thalapathy Vijay has certainly and undoubtedly reset the politics of Tamil Nadu.
