We all know that elephants are endangered, and it breaks our hearts to hear about these gentle giants’ passing.

Recently, 4 elephants, a cow elephant, and three male calves were found dead on a plantation in Kluang, Johor.

According to BERNAMA, State Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon confirmed that his team will work with the Johor Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) to monitor this incident.

“I have been in contact with PERHILITAN regarding the actions to be taken. They are aware of the situation and are currently investigating. Samples from the elephant carcasses have been collected for further analysis.”

He continued, “The cause of death is still under investigation by PERHILITAN. All the elephant carcasses will be buried at the site.“

In addition, he also urged members of the public not to take matters into their own hands when it comes to wild animals, as they should report them to the authorities, who are experts.

On the matter of the cause of death, Johor PERHILITAN director Johor Aminuddin Jamin has said that they would perform a thorough necropsy on the carcasses.

“So far, we can’t confirm if these elephants died from poisoning or other causes,“ he said.

We certainly hope that the authorities can investigate this case. The elephants are already endangered, and with four of them gone just like that, it is a great loss.
