Kota Kinabalu: The State Government may have no choice but look beyond Indonesia and the Philippines as source for foreign workers, said Sabah Economic Advisory Council (SEAC) Chairman Tan Sri David Chu.
Chu said the acute foreign labour shortage caused much misery to the various industries, especially the palm oil and construction sectors.
“The State Government should talk to the Federal Government on the need to allow Sabah to get foreign workers from other countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal and Myanmar, among others, rather than wait for the return of Indonesian and Filipino workers.
