Canon has expanded its 2026 EOS Filmmaker Programme with the addition of two award-winning Malaysian directors: Quek Shio Chuan and Razaisyam Rashid.

The two filmmakers join the programme alongside the existing three ambassadors, bringing the total number of EOS Filmmakers to five. Canon says the expansion reflects its continued focus on supporting filmmakers, content creators and production professionals with its imaging ecosystem, including the EOS R System mirrorless cameras, RF lenses and Cinema EOS lineup.

Quek Shio Chuan is best known for his award-winning debut feature Guang (2018), which won multiple accolades at the Malaysian Film Festival. He later co-directed Netflix’s The Ghost Bride and most recently directed Nisha (2025), which Canon says topped the China box office.

Razaisyam Rashid is known for films and television productions including CEO (2014), Pusaka (2019) and the series Mandatori (2017). He also won Best Director awards at Anugerah Skrin and Anugerah Telenovela, with more recent works including Kahar: Kapla High Council (2024) and Tarung: Unforgiven (2026).

“At Canon, we believe technology should empower creativity and bring people together through meaningful stories. Guided by our corporate philosophy of Kyosei, we are committed to supporting the filmmaking community through a comprehensive imaging ecosystem.

The addition of Quek Shio Chuan and Razaisyam Rashid to our EOS Filmmaker Programme reflects our continued support in nurturing creative talent and advancing the professional video segment,” – Edward Chang, Canon Marketing Malaysia Head of Image Communication Business Division

Canon added that the EOS Filmmaker Programme is intended to foster collaboration with industry professionals, encourage knowledge sharing and demonstrate how its imaging technologies support filmmaking across different genres and production formats. The initiative is part of its broader efforts to support Malaysia’s creative industry by providing filmmakers and content creators with the tools and expertise needed to produce content for regional and international audiences.
