Car dealership suffers RM452,000 loss in impersonation scam
KUALA TERENGGANU: A car dealership company suffered losses of RM452,000 after its clerk fell victim to a phone scam syndicate
Kuala Terengganu district police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said the 50-year-old finance clerk received a WhatsApp message last Monday from a suspect whom she believed to be the company owner.

He said the suspect instructed the victim to provide the company’s account balance and make three separate transfers totalling RM452,000 to three different accounts on the same day.
“The following day, the suspect instructed the victim to make an additional transfer of RM235,000 to another account.
“The victim, who became suspicious after receiving numerous transaction requests, contacted the company owner by phone to verify the matter, only to learn that her employer had not given such instructions,” he said.
Azli said the victim lodged a police report at 11.19 am yesterday after realising she had been duped, and the case was being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
