Car drives through PJ church gate, rams into tree

A CAR drove into St Ignatius Church in Petaling Jaya, causing damage to some of the church's property before hitting a tree in the compound on Friday night, reported the New Straits Times.

Parish priest Lawrence Ng said the incident happened about 11.45pm.

The vehicle drove through the gates and hit tables and chairs that were in the covered car park area before ramming into a tree in the church, he said in a statement.

He said the driver, who appeared unhurt, was brought to the hospital for a check-up.

Ng said he has filed a police report and was assured that an investigations would be carried out.

He urged parishioners not to speculate or spread misnformation on social media.

“We shall leave it to the authorities to take the appropriate action," he said. – June 2, 2024.
