Care home nurse who claimed dementia resident did not need a birthday cake struck off

  • Registered nurse Rossitsa Petkova has been struck off the professional register following a Nursing and Midwifery Council misconduct panel.
  • The tribunal found eight allegations proven against Ms Petkova regarding incidents at Castleford House Nursing Home in Chepstow between January and October 2023.

  • Further proven allegations included shouting at residents to shut up and telling one resident their daughter would not visit unless they finished their dinner.
  • The panel concluded that Ms Petkova showed a deep-seated dismissive attitude and no remorse, making a striking-off order necessary to protect public confidence.
