Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has attempted to backtrack from recent comments about Aaron Ramsdale.
The outspoken former defender was criticized for mocking the Arsenal stopper's reaction to David Raya's save in the Premier League against Tottenham at the weekend.
Ramsdale, who has lost his place to Raya in the team, was accused of having an Oscars moment" by Carragher, which prompted social media reactions from the player's father and Ramsdale himself.
Carragher has now stated on The Overlap: "It was a joke! I will never say anything back and in some ways I admire it.
My son plays and it is completely different to being a fan or a pundit."
At the time, Carragher said: "I thought it was like the Oscars, you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person. I was laughing when I saw that.
He's absolutely devastated with that really."
