Outrage erupted when several cats were spotted on wall-mounted brackets of a high-rise building in Melaka, suffering under the scorching heat.

The cats, stranded on brackets meant for air conditioner units on the third floor, were in a dire situation until a vigilant passerby took action.

Photos and videos show a narrow ledge outside a window of a three-storey building.

On this ledge, there are three cats, along with several items including a yellow and blue cat carrier, food dishes, and some potted plants.

The ledge appears rusty and unsafe. The window behind the ledge has closed curtains.

Netizen expressed outrage, urging the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) to take action against the owners.

Nurul Ain, a well-known independent cat rescuer from Selangor, then alerted the Fire and Rescue Department.

The rescue operation took place at a hotel operating like a rented room facility.

Firefighters arrived promptly and, with no one home, broke the lock to rescue the cats. The occupants, identified as foreigners from Indonesia and Bangladesh, returned later.
