SEN. Panfilo Lacson on Sunday slammed Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano for attacking his integrity and vowed to put him in his "proper place" — in jail.
In his Facebook livestreaming on Saturday, Cayetano questioned the increase in Lacson's declared net worth, which he said seemed to have doubled based on his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) in 2025 compared to that in 2022.
"My integrity is my first and last line of defense, and I will fight to defend it with all my might. Sen[ator] Cayetano has crossed the line by attacking it," Lacson wrote on X.
"As of this morning, I am still counting informants and witnesses, directly or through intermediaries, willing to provide information and evidence to put him in his proper place — the Payatas, QC jail," he said.
Lacson said that his net worth quadrupled — from P58.7 million in 2022, the year he left government, to P244.9 million in 2025.
He said he earned his “wealth” through legitimate means as reflected in his income tax returns for two consecutive taxable years in 2023 and 2024.
He said that unlike Cayetano, with P6.79 billion in budget insertions under the 2025 budget, he does not have insertions or pork barrel "since I became a senator."
"And I don't have 25 percent kickback in slope protection and other infra and other infra projects. I don't know about him but I have consistently refused lobby monies in relation to my job as a legislator," Lacson said.
"And yes, re: Blue Ribbon hearings, huwag siyang mainip, meron ding ghost sa Taguig (he just wait; there is also ghost [project] in Taguig)," he added.
He disclosed that there are ghost flood control projects in Cayetano's bailiwick of Taguig City, with the city engineer allegedly gambling away huge sums in Metro Manila casinos.
Lacson's office said integrity has always been his "most prized possession, a value he nurtured and protected in his more than five decades in public service as law enforcer and lawmaker."
In a related development, Sen. Erwin Tulfo said the investigation on the flood control fund scandal would resume once the Senate session resumes on July 27.
Tulfo, chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, said in a radio interview on Sunday that the panel will be formalized on July 27, the morning of the SONA.
"We cannot conduct a hearing yet because the membership has not yet been finalized. There will still be submissions of names to complete the membership and have it declared on the Senate floor — so it becomes official,” he said.
“We will have flood control investigation. But what if the same names as to those who were charged by the Ombudsman due to the first Blue Ribbon Committee report will come up again? Are we going to repeat it? There has to be new names,” Tulfo said.
He said he will introduce new rules such as stricter treatment on affidavits of resource persons and prohibition on surprise witnesses.
