As investigation into the NEET UG 2026 paper leak widened, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told a Delhi court how a father from Rajasthan allegedly sought a leaked question paper weeks before the examination so his son could secure admission through unfair means.
According to submissions made before the Special CBI Court, Jamwa Ramgarh resident Mangilal Biwal had approached Nashik-based Shubham Khairnar ahead of the May 3 examination, seeking access to the NEET paper for his younger son. The court was told that a deal worth Rs 10-12 lakh was discussed if at least 150 questions matched the final examination paper.
The agency said Khairnar then contacted Gurugram-based Yash Yadav, who allegedly asked his aide, Yash Kakkar, to collect Class 10 and 12 certificates, candidate’s roll number and a cheque as security from Mangilal.
The CBI produced five accused before the court after a two-day probe and sought seven-day custody to investigate what it described as a larger conspiracy linked to the circulation of leaked papers across the country. The court granted custody of all five accused.
During the hearing, the agency said the leak trail first surfaced through the Rajasthan Special Operations Group report, after which the government handed over the case to the CBI.
Investigators later recovered Telegram files and WhatsApp chats allegedly showing the movement of leaked questions between the accused.
The prosecution told the court that leaked question sets containing hundreds of questions in physics, chemistry and biology were allegedly circulated on April 29. A PDF file carrying exact questions was recovered from Yadav’s phone, the agency said.
The probe further revealed that Mangilal allegedly distributed printed copies with answers to several NEET aspirants, including his son Aman, relatives and acquaintances. Investigators also claimed that Yadav had promised free access to leaked papers in exchange for bringing more candidates into the network.
