Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old woman was charged with committing Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT) involving a sum of RM2,993.35.

Jacqueline John pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to the charge against her on Wednesday.

Jacqueline is accused of breaching the trust given to her as supervisor entrusted by Syarikat Watson 88 Mall branch with the RM2,993.35 belonging to the company but had allegedly used it for her own.

The offence allegedly took place at the company’s branch office in Taman Ridgeview, here on April 10, last year between 10pm and 11pm.

Read more The offence under Section 408 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of between one and 14 years, with whipping and also liable to a fine, on conviction.

The court set March 25 for mention and offered Jacqueline bail of RM5,000 with two local sureties.

Jacqueline was also ordered to surrender her passport pending the disposal of her case.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Atikah Nazihah Azmi appeared for the prosecution while Jacqueline was not represented.
