Cebu Pacific flies 2.14M passengers in August

CEBU Pacific on Tuesday said it flew 2.14 million passengers in August this year, a 1.9 percent increase from 2.10 million passengers carried in the same month last year, mainly driven by resilient travel demand.

“We saw encouraging travel demand in the month of August supported by resilient domestic traffic and so because of improving performance across select international markets, including Korea and Bali,” Cebu Pacific CEO Mike Szucs said.

“International load factors continued to strengthen, reflecting healthy passenger demand, although overall international traffic remains below prior levels due to the capacity reductions we implemented. As we approach the yearend travel season, we will remain disciplined in managing capacity, balancing growth opportunities with the evolving fuel cost environment,” he added.

Overall seat load factor (SLF) increased to 84.8 percent from 83.7 percent last year, while seat capacity grew by 0.7 percent to 2.53 million.

Domestic passengers increased by 3.8 percent year on year to 1.62 million, from 1.56 million on 4.7 percent higher seats, or a domestic SLF of 86.9 percent.

International passenger traffic, meanwhile, decreased by 3.3 percent year on year to 523,000 passengers from 541,000 passengers, with seat capacity down by 9.1 percent, raising international SLF by 4.8 percentage points to 79 percent.

On a year-to-date basis, the airline said it flew 18.86 million passengers, a 4.1 percent increase from 18.13 million passengers flown in 2025, with SLF averaging 81.9 percent, and overall capacity in seats up by 8.2 percent to 23.02 million.

Domestic passengers flown in the first 8 months of 2026 reached 14.22 million, up by 5.3 percent from 13.51 million passengers carried in the first 8 months of 2025.

Meanwhile, international passengers flown was at 4.62 million, up by 0.5 percent from 4.60 million passengers in 2025.

Cebu Pacific also said that it had added another Airbus A320neo to its fleet as part of its ongoing fleet modernization program.

“The addition of another Airbus A320neo to our fleet reflects our focus on bringing in newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft that give us greater flexibility across our network,” Cebu Pacific President and Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao said.

Cebu Air, Inc., the operator of Cebu Pacific, saw its share price drop by P0.75 to P25.25 each on Tuesday.
