Kota Kinabalu: The number of foreign visitors coming to Sabah for holiday and business purposes is likely to rise following the resumption of Cebu Pacific Manila-Kota Kinabalu direct flight last Monday (Oct 31).
The Philippine budget carrier is resuming its direct flights as part of the company’s efforts to broaden global networking.
Cebu Pacific said that its flights to Kota Kinabalu operate on Mondays and Fridays, with flights back every Tuesday and every Saturday beginning Oct 31, 2022.
All travellers headed to Kota Kinabalu must download and register for the MySejahtera mobile app to declare their Covid-19 risk status.
All visitors leaving the Philippines must also print and complete the Bureau of Immigration form before going.
Cebu Pacific Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao said passengers no longer need to submit pre-flight Covid-19 test results upon check-in and can skip quarantine upon arrival.
“We invite everyone to experience another side of Malaysia. Adventure seekers are up for a treat – from island hopping to nature tripping to trekking – our flight resumption to Sabah will make all these within reach,” Lao said in a statement.
“As more destinations ease travel restrictions, including the Philippines, flying back to the country has been made convenient for boosted individuals,” he added.
Eighty-eight per cent of Cebu Pacific’s pre-pandemic system capacity is currently being used.
There are 34 local and 19 foreign destinations served by the airline.
It currently offers flights to Bali, Bangkok, Brunei, Dubai, Japan (Fukuoka, Narita, Nagoya, Osaka), Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi).
