As my wife, Zarina and I were saying good-bye to our hosts, travel co-ordinators & friends at Port Pego-Pego in Tabiawan Isabela City after a productive and fruitful one week sojourn in Basilan, we felt a sense of dejavu but the truth is that business isn't usual anymore. Our networks of connections are in a better position to leverage the principle that sociologists call as “embeddedness” relationships. I found having strong close-knit ties did achieve a powerful competitive advantage to make us learn new information and adapt swiftly.
According to Austro economic historian Karl Polanyl, “Cultural embeddedness reflects whether an individuals have adopted the core values, beliefs, and norms entrenched in the organisation's culture, helps an individual generate ideas that others will view as useful.”
