Kota Kinabalu: Sabahans are invited to celebrate Sabah Day 2024 at Padang Merdeka here on Aug 31, starting at 6pm. Sabah Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin will officiate the celebration.
Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, who is also the 2024 Sabah Day Celebration Main Committee Chairman, said this year’s celebration is very significant because it will be celebrated with the same theme as the National Day – “Malaysia Madani Jiwa Merdeka”.
“This concept gives space to accept a significant change this time that the Sabah Day is celebrated together with the National Day. This also gives us an awareness of the meaning of independence, which is freedom from colonialism. Jeffrey
“It is hoped that this celebration will give impact and awareness to the people, especially about the correction of history that has been left out such as what happened with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) document and the Malaysian Proclamation on Sept 16, 1963.
