A CELEBRITY preacher accused of committing sexual abuse against teenage boys has already been charged in court, police confirmed, following public revelations by PKR Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan, Head of the Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11) at Bukit Aman, said eight police reports had been lodged against the individual — seven in Penang and one in Kedah.
“The cases in Penang are currently undergoing trial,” she said. “All victims are male teenagers aged between 13 and 16. Charges were brought in 2023, 2024 and this year.”
The statement follows Nurul Izzah’s remarks on Facebook last Sunday, where she highlighted the disturbing pattern of abuse involving the preacher, who allegedly exploited a victim’s personal interests to initiate the predatory behaviour.
She added that a police report was filed by the victim after the sexual abuse occurred. It is also understood that the preacher in question filed a civil suit against the victim’s family and demanded a public apology.
Nurul Izzah gave her assurance that she would “continue to stand by the victims and ensure that justice prevails.”
The case has sparked fresh calls for stronger institutional support and legal protection for survivors of sexual abuse, particularly minors, in cases involving individuals of influence. - July 17, 2025
