Celebrity Traitors 2026 live: Banished Faithful blames Richard E Grant and says she ‘shouldn’t have trusted him’

It was the end of the road for Traitor Richard E Grant in the third episode of Celebrity Traitors, with the Oscar nominee ousted before two major plot twists saw a new Traitor recruited and a Faithful banished.

Grant, who was selected by host Claudia Winkleman to be one of two Traitors alongside Maya Jama in the series’ first episode, caused waves of suspicion almost immediately last week when he – for slightly inexplicable reasons – declared to Faithful Joe Lycett during a gab in the kitchen that he was, in fact, a Traitor. This ended up getting him banished.

But it wasn’t over yet: Maya and fellow Traitor James Acaster decided to recruit Hannah Fry to their side, with Hannah then using her newfound powers to throw suspicion onto Industry star Myha’la. Her fellow stars seemingly took the bait, and Myha’la was banished. We left the series with yet another cliffhanger ending, as Maya, James and Hannah plotted to murder one of the three Faithfuls they’ve marked for death: Bella Ramsey, Jerry Hall and Sebastian Croft.

Follow along with all the latest Celebrity Traitors updates in our live blog below, with the next episode starting at 8pm on Friday on BBC One.

Three things to look out for on Celebrity Traitors tonight with Richard E Grant under major threat

Celebrity Traitors Episode 3 LIVE

Hannah Fry – right or wrong choice for recruitment?

10:30 , Jacob Stolworthy

The Traitors had a choice to “murder” Hannah Fry or Jerry Hall, or recruit somebody, and they opted to recruit... Hannah Fry.

“It was a question of kill me or recruit me,” Hannah said, acknowledging that she is “the biggest threat” to the existing Traitors.

But was this the right choice? Fans are divided, with some believing they should have chosen another random Faithful who wasn’t up for murder.

However, it could be a genius move, considering there’s some suspicion on Hannah and Maya Jama and James Acaster would have an easy sacrifice on their hands should they need it...

Who will get 'murdered' tonight?

10:00 , Jacob Stolworthy

In the running for “murder” tonight are Bella Ramsay, Sebastian “Bash” Croft and James Blunt.

I’d rule Blunt out considering he’s an absolute master at orchestrating tactics during the tasks – a sure-fire way to insure you remain on the show for a while – leaving Bella and Bash.

I think Bash would be the logical choice here because A) he’s clearly a Faithful and B) I think it might throw suspicion onto Bella, considering they’re close friends and people will think it’s a classic attempt at misdirect.

ICYMI: James Blunt has gone viral

09:30 , Adam White

James Blunt has somewhat surprisingly become the star of the annual Traitors shower shot.

Myha’la blames Richard E Grant for banishment

08:35 , Jacob Stolworthy

Industry star Myha’la became the second celebrity to be banished – and she blames Traitor Richard E Grant for her fate.

“I immediately got close to Richard, just because I feel like we’re twin flames. Really, I shouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him, which is ultimately, I think, my demise,” she said.

Myha’la added that she’s “annoyed” Richard couldn’t stay in “because I feel like he could have brought me to the turret and I would have gladly led him to glory”.

“There’s an alternate universe in which he and I get to the final,” the Faithful – who desperately wanted to be a Traitor – said.

Is Hannah Fry in danger because of her job?

08:20 , Jacob Stolworthy

Mathematician Hannah, being a professional smart person, is already a bit of a target on the show – are her days numbered?

 (BBC) 08:00 , Adam White

Myha’la was very, very shocked upon finding out who was behind her ousting, shortly after revealing she had absolutely no clue who this year’s Traitors were, pointing fingers at everyone from Bella to Joe to Jerry.

Here’s the moment she learnt the truth...

06:00 , Adam White

Shall we talk about Jerry Hall? Iconic lady, of course, but also... in a different world at this point? Miss Miranda Marple has sussed that Jerry is either lying through her teeth or just a bit flighty, but will the others come to find her too suspicious to trust?

Viewers have noticed she’s been quite lucky to avoid major suspicion so far, especially when she and Hannah were marked for murder yet both mysteriously survived...

04:00 , Adam White

Will Hannah and Myha’la’s tug of war over the shield come back to bite Hannah on the behind?

Myha’la attempted to be a good Faithful by suggesting she and Hannah “share” the shield they found during tonight’s challenge by keeping it a secret together. But during the roundtable Hannah suggested that this was more suspicious than it was fair.

It worked for Hannah tonight, with the rest of the celebrities deciding to run with Hannah’s version of events. But now that Myha’la is gone, and warned her fellow Faithfuls that the Traitors are far smarter than they all think, will suspicion fall on Hannah?

Miranda is already onto her. Will others join the club?

Considering he was throwing suspicions left, right and centre last week, Ross Kemp had an oddly quiet night in the castle.

But he did at least deliver one scene-stealing moment, with his reaction to Richard’s banishment going viral for its sheer volume.

Ross Kemp might have got a bit excited (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 22:00 , Adam White

There’s a lot of love for Miranda Hart right now, who seems to have come out of her shell tonight. She comes off as incredibly perceptive and a great listener, has wisely caught on to Hannah, and is quick with the comic asides. What a fun contestant!

Thursday 8 October 2026 21:26 , Adam White

Myha’la has explained her apparently incriminating wink to Richard at the roundtable.

“That was outside of the game, that was just for Richard -- it was like ‘you’re a kindred spirit, I know you’re going to be gone and I’ll see you on the other side’,” she says.

Myha'la's wink of possible doom! (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 21:23 , Adam White

And Myha’la is here again. Appearing on Uncloaked, she says she’s “grateful for being on the show but p***ed that I’m not in the castle!”

I’ll miss her, but phew her choices for who she thought the Traitors were...

Julie, Rob, Sharon, Bella and Jerry?

Her definite Faithfuls are, um, Kenny and Maya. Oops.

She can’t quite believe it when she finds out who the Traitors are. “They’re gonna win, you know,” she says.

On Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, Richard E Grant tried to explain why he quickly announced that he was a Traitor, and repeated his oft-mentioned excuse that he was just too excited.

Anyway, apologies for that -- the Traitors have decided the next to be murdered will be one of Bella, James or Sebastian! Who will it be? Honestly I’m still annoyed on Myha’la’s behalf. Those very famous very silly people!

Thursday 8 October 2026 21:05 , Adam White

Sorry just hallucinated

James Blunt showers up (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 21:03 , Adam White

So surely Hannah has shot herself in the foot a bit with this? Someone was recruited of her and Jerry, the weirdness about Myha’la’s shield wasn’t wrapped up very well, and now Myha’la is gone. Use your brain power, celebrities!

Miranda is sure of Hannah’s guilt at least.

“The key actual tangible evidence is that Hannah did not declare what Myha’la had said in the crypt,” she says. Detective Miranda to the rescue!

Thursday 8 October 2026 21:00 , Adam White

Industry meme queen Myha’la has been banished, which is pretty disappointing to be honest.

“I don’t think the Traitors are as dumb or silly and confused as you think they are,” she says. “I think they’re a lot smarter.”

She admits she’s always been a Faithful, and everyone looks pretty embarrassed. As they should! For shame!

Silver lining here is that everyone feels very bad, with Bella in particular suggesting this will affect how they view people from here on out.

Myha'la as she's banished (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 20:58 , Adam White

Jerry votes Myha’la too, bringing her to three votes -- tied with Jerry!

Rob votes for Myha’la, Leigh-Anne votes for Jerry.

Myha’la votes for Julie (agh), while James votes for Michael (!)

Bella votes for Myha’la too, as do Joe, Ramesh, Michael, Hannah, Ross, James and Sebastian.

These people suck!

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:56 , Adam White

Anyway, gosh this is a fast show!

Voting time! Kenny, Maya and Joanne have all voted Jerry, while Sharon and Miranda have voted Myha’la.

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:55 , Adam White

The reason Myha’la was “shifty” about the shield, she says, was because she grabbed it for herself and was then unsure if she ought to give it to Hannah. So she suggested sharing the shield and just keeping it a secret.

Hannah, Traitory genius as she is, then uses this against her, suggesting it was proof of her shiftiness.

I worry it’s too late for Myha’la though.

Myha'la is peeved (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 20:51 , Adam White

Bella says that they’re holding back on revealing their other suspects in order to stave off their own murder. Ok!

Michael suggests that the Traitors surely knew that Richard was going to be banished, so may have set up an exit strategy in advance. Miranda echoes this. But this also sounds a bit like waffle, as opposed to a serious theory at this point.

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:49 , Adam White

Myha’la immediately defends herself, saying that she voted for Richard to protect herself. “I didn’t want to be the person who didn’t vote for him if he was a Traitor,” she says.

Myha'la at the roundtable (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 20:47 , Adam White

Roundtable time! So what are we thinking? Definitely Myha’la will need to really defend herself, but I’m also not entirely sold that Hannah will get away with her meddling tonight, or get away with mysteriously showing up at breakfast with Jerry this morning.

The roundtable! (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 20:45 , Adam White

Hannah is very good at being a Traitor, isn’t she? Like ish, I suppose. Speaking to Kenny in the kitchen, she again plants seeds of doubt with Myha’la, repeating the oft-mentioned “defending Richard and then voting Richard out” thing.

“[The Traitors] back somebody and switch at the last [minute],” Hannah says. Sneaky!

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:43 , Adam White

In the end, the celebrities added £6,000 to the pot for their troubles during the challenge. But the messy “who’s got a shield?” business has sparked further divisions.

Hannah throws Myha’la under the bus on the drive back home, framing her offer to keep their shield a secret between them as deeply suspicious.

Myha’la, in her own drive back home, is told by Julie that she has a lot of heat on her.

Poor Myha’la, leave her alone, goddammit!

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:39 , Adam White

The celebrities must enter each crypt in teams of two, with Myha’la grabbing a single shield and asking Hannah if she wants to keep it a secret. Hannah says she’ll think about it.

Maya and Sharon, meanwhile, find two shields in their crypt, and vow to take them and keep them a secret.

One additional crypt says two already-found shields must be handed over in exchange for gold. Myha’la admits quickly that she has one, but it takes a while for Sharon to admit to her’s. Maya, meanwhile, remains quiet about her own shield. Juicy!

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:32 , Adam White

Challenge time! Or toilet break time, whichever is your preference.

In this challenge, the celebrities must raid four crypts in 30 minutes, each one containing gold (which will count towards the prize pot), and/or shields.

James Blunt takes charge of it all, which Miranda confesses she appreciates. “Found it mildly erotic, I’m not gonna lie,” she jokes.

Challenge time! (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 20:30 , Adam White

The way things are going, Myha’la looks set to be the person in the firing line at the next roundtable, with Bella, Julie and Ramesh all voicing their suspicions about her (actually incidental) dynamic with the dearly departed Richard.

Jerry and Hannah also seem to be favourites for suspicion, while Maya is planting seeds to incriminate Julie.

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:28 , Adam White

Missed Hannah’s recruitment as a Traitor? Take a look below to see it again...

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:25 , Adam White

At the breakfast table, Michael Sheen also expresses his suspicions of Myha’la, after noting that she vigorously defended Richard before his banishment.

Soon after, everyone is very, very shocked by the breakfast appearance of both Jerry and Hannah.

“You could have had an ultimatum,” Miranda suggests to Hannah, who vocalises what most people seem to be thinking.

The thing is... the recruitment doesn’t seem to have worked very well. Miranda spots a “nervousness” and a “change” in Hannah, while Joanne straight up tells Sebastian that Hannah is a Traitor.

Michael goes one further by suggesting that both Jerry and Hannah have been recruited.

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:19 , Adam White

And the person the Traitors wish to recruit is... Hannah!

“It was a question of kill me or recruit me,” Hannah says, acknowledging that she is “the biggest threat” to the existing Traitors.

She accepts the deal, but acknowledges that there’s a snag: one of her and Jerry were going to be murdered overnight, but what happens when they both show up to breakfast in the morning?

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:15 , Adam White

Up next, Maya and James have decided to recruit a new Traitor, with Bella, Miranda and Hannah in their sights.

Maya confesses she is ‘worried’ about Bella in particular, as they’re trusted by many in the castle and could be an asset to the Traitors...

Is Myha'la next for the chop?

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:12 , Adam White

Julie tells Sharon that she is convinced that Myha’la is a Traitor, after she saw her wink at Richard while voting at the Roundtable. Unusually for The Traitors, this is actually something that did occur! And not made up nonsense!

Could this be the beginning of a case being made against the Industry star tonight?

Richard E Grant has been exposed and banished!

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:08 , Adam White

So Richard is banished from the castle!

“Thank you for giving me an almost bingo-house full of votes,” he says. “I have always wanted to be a Traitor. Sometimes in life your dreams do come true, and sometimes they don’t...”

“I am... an unfaithful traitor!” he announces.

“I have managed to checkmate myself, which as far as I’m aware has never been done,” he explains to camera. “My daughter will be... ‘oh, dad’.”

“But I’ve just had a blast.”

Absolutely terrible Traitor, confirmed by Claudia announcing that a Traitor has never been found so early on the show.

Richard announces his traitorous ways (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 20:06 , Adam White

Sebastian votes for Richard, and Ramesh, Michael and Hannah vote for Richard too!

Ross Kemp? Richard!

James Blunt? Hannah! “I believe the Traitors have recruited [you].”

Julie votes for Richard.

King Kenny votes for Richard.

And, finally, Maya... votes for Richard too!

Thursday 8 October 2026 20:04 , Adam White

And we’re immediately at the roundtable, with everyone voting for who they believe to be a Traitor.

Miranda votes for Richard.

Richard votes for Bella.

Sharon votes for Richard. (”All I had to go on was you saying ‘I am a Traitor’.)

Jerry votes for Leigh-Ann.

Joanne votes for Leigh-Ann.

Rob votes for Richard.

Leigh-Anne votes for Richard.

My’Hala votes for Richard.

James votes for Richard.

Bella votes for Richard.

Lee votes for Richard.

Miranda Hart (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 19:30 , Adam White

There’s a general feeling that Celebrity Traitors can get real superstars to participate, with this series so stacked with recognisable faces that even the likes of Miranda Hart and Michael Sheen feel as if they haven’t made a huge impression yet. But it turns out that not every desired star took the offer to appear on the show. Most notably... Liam Gallagher.

The Oasis frontman surprised his fans this week by replying to a tweet urging him to join the cast, revealing that he’d actually been approached.

“I’ve been asked it’s not my thing I’m not a celebrity,” he wrote back, quite succinctly.

A shame, since... can you imagine the chaos?

Thursday 8 October 2026 18:00 , Adam White

Last week Amol Rajan became the first Faithful murdered this series, after the Traitors chose to recruit James Acaster when offered the chance to save one of both men.

Rajan has not taken his early exit enormously well, popping up everywhere this week to try and diagnose where it all went wrong for him. But he went into greater detail in his official newsletter.

“Conventional wisdom has it that the worst thing about being first out is the sheer embarrassment,” Rajan wrote. “Like, it’s just really galling to be a loser, or pathetic to not even last until a proper roundtable.”

Celebrity Traitors star explains why being first to leave is so bad

Thursday 8 October 2026 17:30 , Adam White

Because everyone’s a little bit nosy when it comes to A-list salaries, you must have pondered at least once if the starry names on Celebrity Traitors are earning big money for their time on the show.

That said, Celebrity Traitors is unique in being just very, very appealing to big names looking to have a giggle in a Scottish castle for a few weeks.

Which explains why the rumoured salary for participants isn’t quite as high as you might imagine...

Celebrity Traitors prize money: What does the winner get and how much are stars paid?

Thursday 8 October 2026 16:30 , Adam White

Earlier this week, Celebrity Traitors 2025 star and notorious passer of gas Celia Imrie revealed that she’d warned Richard E Grant that he’d struggle to keep his brain working during the show.

“[He] rang me up and asked what it was like,” Imrie told The Times. “I said I didn’t quite know what I was letting myself in for. But it was good fun, although it’s very strict and there is an element of cruelty about the game.”

She also told him that he’d need to focus on the game in all hours of the day, which might explain Grant’s major and potentially fatal “I’m a Traitor” clanger last week.

Celia Imrie shared the advice she gave Richard E Grant before he entered the ‘Traitors’ castle (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 15:30 , Adam White

Bit of a weird one here, but today The Sun has reported on a bit of alleged behind-the-scenes chaos during filming of this series, with an “unbelievable” incident forcing production to shift their plans.

An anonymous source claimed that “during filming, something so unbelievable happened even execs didn’t see it coming,” adding: “It forced them to throw plans out the window to accommodate the epic moment – which should make great TV.”

This is very vague! But reading between the lines it sounds as if a Traitor is found out in some way that goes beyond simple detective work – could one of the show’s trademark in-person kills go unexpectedly awry? Did the BBC severely underestimate the mad paranoia of Ross Kemp and he catches someone in the act?

Ross Kemp: Show ruiner? (BBC) Thursday 8 October 2026 14:35 , Adam White

Hello! Adam here kicking off The Independent’s coverage of BBC One’s hotbed of lies and baroque violence that is Celebrity Traitors as it enters week two.

All eyes are currently on loveable buffoon Richard E Grant, who is potentially the greatest living actor simply unable to lie through his teeth – his banishment at the top of tonight’s episode, inspired by his enduringly bizarre declaration to all and sundry that he is a Traitor, seems inevitable at this point, doesn’t it?

That said, there are a raft of other big questions we’re asking as we head into the new episode. My erstwhile colleague Lauren Morris has gathered them together here, in case you wanted a peruse...
