Celebrity Traitors star Hannah Fry has revealed the findings of the gameplay calculations she never got to use on the show – and it seems that James Acaster and Maya Jama’s days in the turret may be numbered.
Last night’s episode saw mathematician Fry, 42, become the latest contestant to be banished at the roundtable, with the 2026 cast catching another Traitor. Fry started off as a Faithful in the competition before being recruited by remaining Traitors, Acaster and Jama, following the banishment of Richard E Grant.
During her time as a Faithful, the Cambridge professor mentioned that she had developed a scientific method to detecting Traitors, but was forced to discard it after becoming one herself.
Now, Fry has shared the details of her workings after leaving the castle and revealed that Acaster and Jama have “given themselves away” by inadvertently following a standard Traitor habit.
Speaking to Ed Gamble on Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, Fry showed off her notes, saying: “So basically, I did all my work in advance. I went through all of the series before and this is me working out my calculations.

“I used the same technique that Alan Turing used to crack the enigma machine. I would have made such a good Faithful, you guys.”
“Here are the giveaways. One, a Traitor will make a burn vote in the first three episodes,” she continued. “James has done it, Maya has done it.
“Traitors will pile on and banish another Traitor despite having never voted for them before. James and Maya have slightly given themselves away because they switched their vote from Julie to me and there’s only a small number of people who’ve done that now.”
She added that another big giveaway is that Traitors “don’t hang out together” while on the show. “You’ll never see three Traitors in a car together, you’ll never see three Traitors sitting next to each other at breakfast.”
Fry, who is best known for hosting the BBC’s The Secret Genius of Modern Life, said that she was “devastated” by not getting to use her findings, but still enjoyed herself on the show. When asked by Gamble whether Celebrity Traitors was everything she thought it would be, said responded: “Oh and more.”

The mathematician previously revealed that she was using Turing’s method – which he used to crack the Enigma machine, a cipher device used by the German military during World War II – to find the Traitors, saying ahead of the show: “Whether it’s going to work or not, honestly, your guess is as good as mine!
“I've got spreadsheets coming out of my eyeballs. I close my eyes and it's like there are numbers tattooed on the inside of my eyelids at the moment for how much I've been looking at them.”
We’re currently half way through the series, with the Faithful banishing two of their own (Julie Hesmondhalgh and Myha’la) and two Traitors (Grant and Fry). Meanwhile, three contestants have been “murdered” by the Traitors: Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey and Rob Beckett, whose journey in the competition came to an end last night.
Yesterday’s episode also saw Jama and Acaster recruit content creator King Kenny to become a Traitor, taking the turret count back up to three after Fry’s banishment.
Celebrity Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
