
Kota Kinabalu: Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd (CIS) handed over RM100,000 in business zakat to the Sabah Zakat Centre at a ceremony held here, Friday.
The handover, which was held in conjunction with the 2025 Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house, was officiated by CIS Chairman Datuk Japlin Akim. He handed the zakat to Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) Deputy President Datuk Malai Ali Malai Ahmad on behalf of the Sabah Zakat Centre.
According to Japlin, the zakat is part of CIS’s responsibility in fulfilling Islamic obligations, based on the company’s current growth and profits.
“It is hoped that this zakat will be used to help the asnaf, and we pray that CIS will continue to achieve success in the future,” he said.
Also present were MUIS Zakat Division Head, Iwansuzaire Hari, Operations & Regional Sector Head, Daahlan Marali, Muis Business Zakat Unit Head, Muhammad Nur Iskandar, CIS General Manager, Sumardi Mohd Yusuf, and others.
