Four individuals, including the CEO of a football association in a northern state of Malaysia, have been remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over alleged bribery amounting to over RM6 million.
The suspects, all men aged between 40 and 60, were apprehended between 5:00 and 6:30 PM yesterday at the MACC office in Kedah while providing their statements.
According to sources, investigations revealed that an amount exceeding RM6 million was funneled into the account of a football association.
The alleged bribery is suspected to be payment for facilitating a company owner in securing a construction contract for a racing circuit and managing five water retention projects in a state, as per the source.
Confirming the arrests, Senior Director of MACC Investigations, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, mentioned that the case falls under investigation under Section 16a(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
