Around 60 days after Punjab Warehousing Corporation district manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa ended his life by suicide, the Rajiv Avenue police filed over 500-page challan against former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Supreet Kaur on Wednesday.
Apart from charges related to abetment to suicide, the police have also added sections pertaining to physical assault that allegedly took place a few days before the incident.
In the challan, the special investigation team (SIT) led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu told the court that Bhullar’s father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar and his private personal assistant Dilbag Singh were yet to be arrested.
Earlier, the police had added charges related to destruction of evidence against them in the FIR.
Investigators have alleged that on the day of the incident, the then minister had called Randhawa to his residence, where he was allegedly assaulted and threatened. The prosecution also attached the medical report of the doctor who treated Randhawa.
Counsel associated with the case said the challan against Laljit Singh Bhullar ran into 543 pages and included statements of more than 50 witnesses.
