LABUAN: Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce Chairman Datuk Wong Kii Yii regretted the small allocation of RM82.917 million approved for Labuan Corporation for the 2025, describing the amount as “baby-feed” and a mismatch with the island’s status as major town of importance.

Wong said this in reference to disclosure on social media about the budget which read: “The Federal Government has allocated RM50 million for Labuan operating expenditure under Budget 2025 maintaining the same amount as Budget 2024 with RM32.917 for seven development projects for the upcoming year”

Wong said “Labuan as a financial centre, oil and gas hub and being developed as tourist destination certainly deserved a more fitting allocation.

With this type of small budget how is Labuan going to catch up with the other federal territories?”.
