Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah Council has appointed former Chief Judge of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri David Wong Dak Wah, as its Legal Advisor.
MCCC Sabah President Datuk Dexter Lau said the appointment aims to strengthen the Chamber’s institutional development, governance framework and legal affairs management.
David brings over 30 years of distinguished legal experience to the role, having served in various key judicial positions before becoming Chief Judge.
He is widely respected in the legal community for his integrity, professionalism and commitment to justice.
“This appointment will elevate MCCC Sabah’s professionalism and ensure our policies align with legal requirements,” said Dexter.
He noted that the Legal Advisor role provides crucial institutional safeguards as the Chamber navigates increasingly complex legal and compliance challenges in cross-border cooperation and trade facilitation.
With the evolving global economic landscape, Dexter said David’s expertise will help the Chamber maintain higher standards in institutional building, risk management and governance.
“His wisdom and experience will provide strong professional support for our long-term development and help us tackle future legal challenges with greater confidence,” he added.
The appointment reflects MCCC Sabah’s commitment to institutionalisation, professionalism and transparency.
Dexter is confident that David’s guidance will enhance the Chamber’s credibility and influence in handling international investment matters, cross-border cooperation and regulatory issues.
