KOTA KINABALU: The decision by certain local leaders to quit the party in hopes of securing candidacy is disgraceful and reflects a lack of true commitment to public service, said DAP policy bureau chief Datuk Chan Foong Hin.

Chan, who is also Sabah DAP deputy chairman, said such actions are opportunistic and regrettable, citing the case of Kapayan Community Development Leader Cyril Liew, who recently left the party to position himself as an independent.

The Kota Kinabalu MP emphasised that Sabah DAP remains fully committed and actively prepares for the upcoming state election, although candidate selection is still under discussion.

He stressed that Sabah needs a results-driven political party capable of effective coordination with the Federal Government to deliver development and retain talent, not empty slogans or emotional rhetoric.
