PUTRAJAYA — PKR vice-president Chang Lih Kang today confirmed that he will defend his post in the party’s central leadership election for the 2025–2028 term at the end of this month.
Chang, who is also the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, said the nomination process had been completed, noting strong interest among members in contesting for top party positions this time around.
“I have completed the nomination process and I will defend the vice-president’s post,” he told reporters after launching the Mobile Hydrogen Refuelling Station Development Project here today.
Asked whether he was confident of retaining his post amid reports that many capable leaders were vying for the same position, Chang said he upheld the party’s democratic principles and welcomed the competition.
“I feel that this is a positive development. The more, the merrier. This shows that many are interested in getting involved in the party’s leadership. I feel that’s a good thing,” he said.
Earlier today, the media reported that nine leaders had confirmed their candidacies for the vice-president posts as of 11pm yesterday, ahead of PKR’s party election on May 23.
