Can I block certain users from viewing or commenting on my content?
Currently, there is no option to block users from the creator dashboard. If you encounter any issues with a user on our platform, please reach out to us at creator@newswav.com.
Can my content be published on other platforms too?
Yes, articles and videos that you have published on Newswav can be posted on other platforms, including your own website, blog, social media platforms, or other content sites etc.
Vice versa, content that you’ve published on other platforms can be submitted onto the Newswav creator platform as well, so long as you are the owner of the content/ material, or you own the rights to repurpose them.
Does Newswav own the content I publish on Newswav?
As per Clause 9.1 of our Terms of Use, all rights title and interest in the materials and user content available in the Newswav platform are owned by the respective publishers or users, and Newswav does not own any such rights relating to the materials and the user content. The publication of the materials and the user content in the platform do not, in any way, transfer any intellectual property rights to us.
Why was my cover image replaced with a generic image?
At Newswav, it is our standard practice to replace cover images that are not owned by the creator with a generic image related to the topic after 60 days of publication. This applies to all creators and publishers on the platform, including major news outlets.
This practice helps us reduce the risk of copyright infringement and ensures a safer publishing environment for both creators and the platform.
👉 If you own the image, you may indicate ownership in the image caption by writing something like “Image by Your Name”. Please note:
- Do not include hyperlinks in the caption, as this indicates to the system that the image is sourced from a third party.
- Exceptions apply if you are using royalty-free images from trusted platforms such as Unsplash or Pexels.
Why is my article available in other languages?
To enhance content reach across our multilingual audience and support a wider readership, all creator content is automatically translated using AI into English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Chinese.
These translations are generated automatically to improve accessibility and visibility. While we aim for accuracy, AI translations may not fully reflect the original meaning or context of the article. The original published version remains the authoritative source.
How do I qualify to be a Newswav Creator?
To be eligible to be a Newswav Creator, you must meet these requirements:
(a) You must be 18 years or older
(b) You must be a resident in Malaysia and have a local bank account that is registered in your name for us to proceed with the payment purpose.
(c) You must have no conflicting interests that would prevent you from being our creator (eg. having a contract with XXX News Company)
Can I receive monetary support from readers?
1. Eligibility
Creators must meet all of the following criteria:
- Has been an active creator on the Newswav platform for a minimum of 1 year
- Has been active for the past 6 consecutive months, defined as publishing a minimum of 4 articles per month
- Has maintained a consistent standard of original, non-plagiarised, and non-clickbait content
2. Presentation Guidelines
- The support text must appear only once, at the end of the article.
- Only text-based support requests are permitted. QR codes, images, or embedded payment widgets are strictly not allowed.
- Aggressive soliciting, emotional appeals, guilt-tripping language, or repeated requests are strictly prohibited.
3. Disclaimer
- Newswav is a platform facilitator only. Any transactions made between readers and creators via the Creator Support Feature are strictly between the reader and the creator.
- Newswav bears no responsibility or liability for any disputes, losses, or issues arising from such transactions.
- Creators are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in relation to any funds received.
