ChargeSini has lowered DC charging fees at its stations nationwide, with rates now starting from RM1.19 per kWh, down from a previous range of RM1.29 to RM1.49 for its faster public chargers.

New Rates By Charger Speed

DC chargers at condominiums, and public DC chargers rated at 40kW and below, are now priced at RM1.19 per kWh. Public DC chargers between 60kW and 80kW are now priced at a flat RM1.29 per kWh, down from the earlier RM1.29 to RM1.49 range.

For a typical 40kWh top-up on a 60-80kW charger, that works out to RM51.60 under the new flat rate, compared to as much as RM59.60 at the old top rate, a saving of about RM8.

ChargeSini membership plans offer a further discount of up to 20% on charging fees. The company has also removed free idle fees from its membership plans, after facing criticism over drivers occupying charging bays without actively charging.

ChargeSini isn’t the only network cutting prices. Gentari also lowered DC rates at select locations across the Klang Valley, Perak, Penang, Terengganu and Pahang in July, bringing its floor rate down to RM1.30 per kWh at those sites.

Rates Vary By Location

The new pricing structure doesn’t appear to be applied consistently across all sites.

Check the ChargeSini app for the actual rate at your specific location before starting a charging session, since prices can differ even between chargers of similar speed.

Ways To Save More

Even at the new lower rate, public DC charging remains more expensive than charging at home. Domestic electricity under TNB’s standard tariff costs roughly 44 to 55 sen per kWh, making home charging around 3 to 4 times more affordable than public DC fast charging.

Separately, expenses for EV charging equipment and subscriptions can also be claimed under income tax relief, so don’t forget to add that to your to-do list when the time for filing comes.
