Prince Albert II has strongly condemned a parcel bomb attack in Monaco that left three people wounded, describing the incident as a profound shock to the principality.

The explosive device appeared to have been aimed at Ukrainian oligarch Vadym Yermolaiev, though a couple and a teenager in the vicinity also sustained injuries from the blast.

In his statement, the monarch said: "The criminal explosion that occurred this evening in Monaco is a shock for the entire Monegasque community.

"My thoughts go first to the victims, to their loved ones and to the residents directly affected by this brutal act."

Prince Albert expressed his gratitude alongside Princess Charlene and the House of Grimaldi, offering their compassion and steadfast support to those affected.

He continued: "Princess Charlene, my family and I wish to express to them our compassion and our unwavering support."

The sovereign commended the Public Security forces for their exemplary handling of the crisis, noting they had responded with discipline and calm professionalism.

He stated: "We also wish to commend the remarkable work of the Public Security forces, who are managing the situation with rigour and composure, and who have ensured that the victims were swiftly cared for and the area secured."

All relevant Government departments have been deployed under state authority, working in close collaboration with French officials to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and bring those responsible to justice.

Prince Albert concluded his address with a resolute pledge that the principality would stand firm in the face of such violence.

"More than ever, the Principality of Monaco will remain united and resolute in the face of violence and crime," he declared.

"The safety of our community has always been a priority; it will remain so more than ever, whatever the threats."
