
The popular musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is set to make its Southeast Asia debut in Singapore at the Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, in May 2026. This vibrant adaptation will feature songs from the original 1971 film version of Roald Dahl’s classic story, including “The Candy Man”, “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket”, and “Pure Imagination”.

New musical numbers will also be added to the play, including original tracks by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, Grammy and Tony Award winners. Special effects by Tim Clothier, a renowned Las Vegas magic and illusion designer, are expected to create an immersive experience for the attendees. The musical extravaganza is being brought to Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia, which has also presented other Broadway classics in the island country, including Hamilton and The Phantom of the Opera.
The musical adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory premiered as a Broadway show in 2017, followed by over 300 performances and a subsequent four-year-long tour of North America. The show was also staged on London’s West End.
