MB of Kedah, Sanusi appears to be as phlegmatic as he can about the whole thing when it comes to Hari Raya Madani event held in Alor Setar on April 29.
The word phlegmatic \ fleg-ˈma-tik \ (adjective) means showing little emotion.
In fact he had not made any public comment about the event at all. He must have been obligated to attend when HRH Sultan of Kedah did make it a point to grace the occasion.
Note: Phlegmatic is not to be confused with phlegm. Phlegm is a specific type of mucus that originates in your lungs and throat. It may be thicker than mucus produced in our nose and sinuses. Another term for phlegm is sputum. Coughing up phlegm may help clear irritants and infections from our lungs.
Kedah MB might have swallowed his pride and spat out a great deal of sputum to get rid of what was irritating him before meeting up with PMX on 29 April.
But publicly, he did shake hands with PMX and had a group photo with visiting dignitaries one of whom was seen in yellow which every Kedahan know is a 'no no' in the presence of HRH the Sultan.
The swallowing of pride, holding out against spitting in anger while in public exemplify the politeness of Kedah MB while a visiting dignitary to the state on the other hand, ignorantly violates a rule sacred to the state might have raised eyebrows.
But then again that's what PH leadership is perceived to be by the people of Kedah in general. That it often times overlooks protocol, for example by not inviting its head of state to events held within Kedah itself.
Lima'23 is indeed a point of contention.
Perhaps now that PMX has met MB face to face, no one needs to spit into the wind.
Both may now try to be as phlegmatic as they can in federal state relationship and swallow the phlegm instead of spitting them out in public, embarrassing no one but themselves.
