Kota Kinabalu: As of February 3, the Paddy and Rice Regulation in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (Mafi) Sabah has inspected all wholesale permits and Bernas warehouses throughout the State for glutinous rice supply stocks.

A statement from the office, signed by its State Director Mohamad Norniza, stated that they also obtained sales information from Bernas to all wholesalers in the State on average before Hari Raya of as much as 700 to 800 metric tonnes per month.

This glutinous rice supply stock has been placed in Bernas warehouses throughout the State.

Realising that the demand for glutinous rice will increase in the run-up to the Month of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, Bernas has also compiled a schedule for the supply of glutinous rice from Feb 2 to Feb 27 in the State amounting to 1700 metric tonnes.

This is to avoid concerns about the lack of glutinous rice supply as has happened in previous years.
