Chef Wan reveals mum is ‘not in good shape’ in latest social media post

CHEF Wan, Malaysia’s favourite celebrity chef, whose real name is Datuk Redzuawan Ismail, has revealed that his 91-year-old mother is in an ever worsening condition.

In a new post on his Instagram, the 64-year-old chef says he has to spend a lot more time with his mother Noraini Abdullah, as she is “not in good shape.”

Two years ago, Chef Wan said his mother had been diagnosed with cancer. She also suffers from ever worsening dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and is now not able to care for herself.

"I have to feed my mother these days as she is now incapable of spooning the food, and simply stares at her plate," he said in the social media post.

"And every morning, after feeding her breakfast, we go for a slow walk around the house which helps her blood circulation."

Chef Wan admitted that taking care of his mother in her condition was no easy task, as she "no longer knows what to do".

"What is saddest of all is, she might soon not recognise me or anyone else.

"Thank God she has me! I've informed my siblings about her condition and told them to spend more time with her. God willing, they will do so."

Since Noraini's diagnosis, Chef Wan has kept his fans informed of her state with regular video posts on his Instagram. – The Vibes, December 12, 2022
