KUALA LUMPUR – Celebrity chef Chef Wan today lost his beloved mother, known as Cik Aini, who died at 6.20am in the hospital at the age of 93.

Chef Wan, whose real name is Datuk Redzuan Ismail, posted about her passing on Instagram, saying that she died peacefully in her sleep at the Gleneagles Hospital where she had been receiving treatment.

He said his mother would be buried in Cyberjaya after prayers at the Putra Mosque in Putrajaya.

According to a report by mStar, his mother had been admitted to the hospital 10 days ago. She had been fighting cancer and other health complications, and Chef Wan had regularly posted updates on Instagram on her condition and thanked visitors and friends who supported him as he cared for her.

In a January 6 post, Chef Wan wrote that he was ready to let his mother go, and had also whispered to her in her hospital bed that she should “go” when she was ready.
