Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has taken a dig at predecessors Frank Lampard and Graham Potter.

Pochettino says the poor atmosphere at Stamford Bridge can be blamed on what went on before him.

Ahead of their Carabao Cup semifinal second-leg clash with Middlesbrough, he said: "We are now paying for the effect of the 18 months before my time.

"I arrived this season and it's only been six months. It is true that we are getting better results now, but the disappointment from the fans comes from earlier and from last season.

"For a few periods in some games, like against Brentford or Nottingham Forest, the energy was really down because the team didn't engage the fans. It was our mistake. But in the rest of the matches the fans were really good."
