Chelsea boss Graham Potter was delighted seeing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off the mark in victory at Crystal Palace.

Aubameyang started the comeback in south London with a typically instinctive finish, letting the ball roll across his body before drilling low into the bottom corner on the turn.

"Yes, a finish of that stature is a sign of a top striker and it's certainly handy to have!" Potter said of Aubameyang's goal.

"Goals can help you at any time of the game and being 1-0 down, we needed something. It was an equalising goal at an important time and it helped us on the way to a good three points."

Before his arrival at Chelsea, Aubameyang and his family were victims of a violent home robbery in Barcelona.

"Auba has been working hard. He's had a difficult summer, for different reasons, and he's had quite a traumatic experience I think.

"I've said previously and I'll say it again, the way he's handled himself in my experience has been excellent and I'm really happy that he's got a goal and contributed to a win for the team."
