There's concerns around an apparent knee injury for Chelsea fullback Reece James.

With five weeks to go until the start of the World Cup, James hobbled off in the second half of Chelsea's 2-0 win over AC Milan to leave England boss Gareth Southgate fearing the worst.

Blues boss Graham Potter said he was 'hopeful' his defender would be okay but admitted it could take as long as 48 hours to determine the full extent of the problem.

There were positive signs that James' injury isn't a serious one on Tuesday night. He was on the pitch at full-time to applaud the away supporters after the final whistle before tweeting: 'Fingers crossed it's not a bad one.'

Chelsea manager Potter was also optimistic. Speaking after the game he said: "We're hoping he'll be okay, it'll be 24, 48 hours to find out, so it's too early to give you anything more than that.

"He will have a bit of swelling and be sore tomorrow but the fact that we all collectively held our breath shows how important he is for England.

"For England he is vital. We winced when saw it. I really hope for his sake and the country's sake he is fine."
