Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has stepped away from talks with Mason Mount.
The England midfielder is hoping to extend his contract at the club where he has played since youth level.
The 24-year-old has less than 18 months to go on his deal, which means he may be sold in the summer if he does not renew.
The Telegraph have claimed Boehly was working on the negotiations himself at one stage.
However, he has since moved on and left the matter to co-sporting director Paul Winstanley.
Mount has interest in his services from Liverpool, Newcastle United, and other clubs.
