Chelsea hero Joe Cole is concerned about their transfer plans with the top four out of reach.
Cole admits qualifying for the Europa Conference League is unlikely to attract the players they need.
"We are not talking about 'who do Chelsea get', we're talking 'who wants to go to Chelsea' if they are playing in the Europa Conference League? We have to be honest," he said on BT Sport.
"The owners have come in and done what all good owners do and spend money. You have to praise them for that, they're good people and they want to do what's right for the club.
"But they probably have to look at themselves and ask 'who's advising us on these players?' Why have we got nine or 10 No 10s and wingers when we could have got a No 9?
"We don't know the ins and outs but the problem lies with the recruitment over the last 12 months.
"Nobody in this squad has got 20 goals a season in their career so what makes you think they will do that now. That is the overall problem."
