Chelsea are making an attempt to trump Manchester City for Boca Juniors fullback Valentin Barco.
The young wing-back is expected to join City in January.
However, the London Evening Standard says Chelsea are making a move for Barco.
Chelsea want to sign Barco and place him at French partners Strasbourg in January.
It also hasn't been ruled out Strasbourg would sign Barca outright next month.
