Chelsea are moving to open new contract talks with Mateo Kovacic.
Football Insider says it was rumoured that Chelsea could sell Kovacic this summer. But instead, management want to secure the midfielder to a new deal.
Croatia international Mateo Kovacic, 28, is in his fifth season at Chelsea.
His contract expires in the summer of 2024 and Chelsea plan to offer new terms.
Securing Kovacic is a priority this season, along with extending N'Golo Kant's deal. The 31-year-old's contract expires this summer.
