Chelsea have turned down a first offer from Manchester United for Mason Mount.
BBC Sport says Chelsea's bid of 40m has been rejected by Chelsea.
Mount has a year left on his contract and has agreed personal terms with United after failing to settle on a new deal with the Blues.
United are expected to try again for the England midfielder, but are reluctant to meet Chelsea's valuation.
The Blues are insisting on 70m to sell Mount.
