Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile has suffered a major injury blow which will take his recovery into next season.
Badiashile missed Sunday's defeat at Manchester City with a groin injury.
The London Evening Standard says the defender was due to undergo surgery today.
It's expected he isn't set to return until late September, meaning he will need to undergo a preseason before a playing comeback.
Badiashile joined Chelsea in January from AS Monaco for 35m.
