Chelsea target Christopher Vivell has left RB Leipzig abruptly.

Evening Standard stated a month ago, along with other sources, that the German was among those touted by Chelsea as their next technical director.

Vivell was seen as an alternative to Red Bull Salzburg chief Christoph Freund, who turned down the job.

Now it is confirmed that he has left Leipzig, which may free him up to take a post at Chelsea.

“Christopher Vivell was dismissed from his role as technical director on Thursday due to different contrasting views," RB Leipzig stated this week.

“His duties will be taken over by by the existing setup until Max Eberl's tenure as sporting director begins."
