The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV has achieved a five-star rating in its latest ASEAN NCAP assessment, underscoring the strong safety credentials of Chery’s electrified C-segment SUV for the regional market.

Conducted under the ASEAN NCAP 2021–2025 protocol, the Tiggo 7 PHEV recorded an overall score of 94.68 points, placing it among the highest-performing models evaluated under the current assessment framework.

In Malaysia, the Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH is priced at RM129,800, positioning the plug-in hybrid SUV competitively within the C-SUV segment while offering a comprehensive suite of safety technologies as standard.

In the Adult Occupant Protection assessment, the Tiggo 7 PHEV achieved a full 32.00 points. ASEAN NCAP reported that the vehicle’s occupant compartment remained stable during the frontal offset crash test, with test data confirming good protection for both the driver and front passenger.

The SUV scored the maximum 16.00 points in the frontal impact evaluation, alongside 8.00 points each for side impact protection and head protection technology, the latter verified through additional deployment testing and the Fitment Rating System.

Child Occupant Protection contributed 43.81 points to the overall score, supported by strong dynamic test performance at 23.85 points, 9.96 points from child restraint system installation checks and a further 9.00 points from vehicle-based assessments. ISOFIX anchorages are fitted as standard.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV also delivered a strong showing in the Safety Assist category, collecting the maximum 21.00 points. ASEAN NCAP verified the functionality and effectiveness of Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City and AEB Inter-Urban, both of which are standard across all variants.

Effective Braking and Avoidance contributed 6.00 points, while seatbelt reminders for both front and rear occupants added another 6.00 points, with advanced safety assist technologies accounting for the remaining 3.00 points.

In the Motorcyclist Safety domain, the Tiggo 7 PHEV recorded 14.00 points, driven by the effective performance of its Blind Spot Detection system on both sides of the vehicle, as well as rear visualisation and pedestrian protection assessments.

A bonus point was also awarded for the inclusion of AEB for Motorcycle, a feature that remains relatively rare in the C-SUV segment.

According to the ASEAN NCAP report, Tiggo 7 PHEV models supplied to Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam are produced in both China and Malaysia reflecting Chery’s growing localisation footprint in ASEAN.

The strong ASEAN NCAP result builds on the Tiggo 7 PHEV’s earlier success in Euro NCAP, where it also secured a five-star rating in Oct, highlighting consistent safety performance across global assessment programmes.
