Chief Minister urges more programmes to empower Sabah women

Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called for more education, entrepreneurship and leadership programmes to empower women in Sabah.

He commended the Sabah Women’s Advisory Council (MPWS) for collaborating with agencies, particularly the Sabah Women’s Affairs Department (Jhewa), in promoting women’s empowerment initiatives.

“I want to see more women actively involved in the economic, education and leadership fields initiated by the MPWS,” he said.

He said this when receiving a delegation from MPWS led by its Chairperson Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki at Menara Kinabalu.

During the meeting, Rosmawati briefed him on MPWS programmes focusing on education, entrepreneurship and leadership development.

She said among the initiatives is the Global Women @ Sabah (Glow@Sabah) leadership programme aimed at identifying and nurturing capable women leaders.

She also briefed the Chief Minister on the State Women’s Day celebration scheduled for Sept 9.

Also present were MPWS Deputy Chairperson Datuk Fauziah Abu Bakar Titingan, Jhewa Director cum Secretary Haslina Ismail and committee members.
